Characteristics of Pulmonary Tuberculosis at RSUD 45 Kuningan in 2023 Toward a TB-Free Indonesia 2030

Background: Tuberculosis (TB) is a disease caused by the Mycobacterium tuberculosis. As part of the strategy to end tuberculosis outlined in Presidential Regulation No. 67 of 2021, case detection for TB is one of the intensified measures for TB control and broader case tracking Aim: To determine the characteristics of Pulmonary TB, Pulmonary TB with HIV coinfection, and Pulmonary TB with comorbid diabetes mellitus (DM). Methods: This is a descriptive observational study. The study population consisted of Pulmonary TB patients at RSUD 45 Kuningan in 2023. Result: A total of 80 Pulmonary TB patients were identified at RSUD 45 Kuningan. The highest Characteristics by age were in age 57 years old 5 (6,3%). Gender distribution: 53 males (66.3%) and 27 females (33.8%). Types of Pulmonary TB: 51 patients (66.3%) had Clinical Pulmonary TB, and 29 patients (33.8%) had Bacteriological Pulmonary TB. Treatment history: New cases 76 patients (95%), Relapsed cases 3 patients (6.3%), Defaulted cases 1 patient (1.3%), No treatment failures. Pulmonary TB with HIV coinfection: 12 patients (15%), while the rest had no HIV coinfection. Pulmonary TB with comorbid DM: 2 patients (2.5%), while the majority had no comorbid DM. Conclusion: Pulmonary TB patients at RSUD 45 Kuningan were predominantly at age 57 years old, male, and categorized as new cases. Among the patients, 2 had DM (2,5%), and 12 had HIV (15%). It is recommended to improve medical record documentation to enhance the understanding of Pulmonary TB status and investigate TB cases in children.
